Dr. Gilla Shapiro, Ph.D., C.Psych, is a registered Clinical and Health Psychologist. She completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at McGill University in Montreal and her predoctoral internship in health psychology at Rush University in Chicago. 

Dr. Shapiro has worked in varied, well-regarded hospitals. Her approach is warm and collaborative. 

Dr. Shapiro provides therapy to adults and couples experiencing:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Grief

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Life transitions

  • The challenges of serious and chronic illness.  

In her postdoctoral fellowship at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Dr. Shapiro became proficient at delivering therapies to cancer patients and caregivers.  She supports her clients in making meaningful change using evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy. 

As a health psychologist, Dr. Shapiro has published over 45 papers in peer-reviewed journals, multiple book chapters, and patient education booklets. 

Her research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute.
