Dr. Janice Kuo, C. Psych., received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Washington under the direct mentorship of Dr. Marsha Linehan, the developer of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). After her doctorate, she completed her post-doctoral training at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Kuo is a certified Individual and Group DBT therapist and specializes in the treatment of individuals with severe emotion dysregulation and suicidal and self-harm behaviors. She has given several national and international workshops in DBT since 2005 and has provided consultation and supervision to clinicians across Canada and the U.S. Dr. Kuo was a core faculty member in the psychology department at Ryerson University from 2010-2019 and is now a core faculty member in the Palo Alto University-Stanford PsyD Consortium in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Kuo has published numerous empirical and theoretical papers pertaining to DBT, emotion processes in borderline personality disorder, and mechanisms of change in DBT. She is a member of the Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), American Psychological Association (APA), Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), and The Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT).
